X-Repair Product

Why X-Repair?
Over 4 million patients seek medical treatment each year because of a rotator cuff injury. Many of these patients will require surgery for treatment of their rotator cuff injury. Unfortunately, the failure rate for rotator cuff surgery has been reported to be between 20% and 90% in many instances. The most common reason for lack of success of rotator cuff surgeries is structural failure at the surgical site.

Advantages of X-Repair
X-Repair is specifically designed with mechanical properties that are similar to human tendon, in order to help prevent structural failure at the surgical site. X-Repair has been shown to provide a mechanically and structurally stable repair site which will allow the natural repair process to proceed. After using X-Repair, the desired outcome for the patient is to increase the chances of success of the surgery so that the patient may resume their normal lifestyle as soon as possible.

X-Repair Applications
The device has been granted FDA 510(k) clearance for marketing in the United States. The indications for use of X-Repair are:

  • General surgical procedures for reinforcement of soft tissue where weakness exists
  • For reinforcement of soft tissues that are repaired by suture or suture anchors, during tendon repair surgery including reinforcement of rotator cuff, patellar, Achilles, biceps, or quadriceps tendons

X-Repair is not intended to replace normal body structure or provide the full mechanical strength to support the rotator cuff, patellar, Achilles, biceps, or quadriceps tendons. Sutures used to repair the tear, and sutures or bone anchors used to attach the tissue to the bone, provide mechanical strength for the tendon repair.
